My Picks for the Winter 30x30 Remix

So without further ado, here are my 30 items!

 

I live in Florida where the beginning of February starts to hint of spring and temperature varies wildly between 70 degree days and even nights with lows in the twenties.  I love the heat so I cannot wait for it to get warm again!  But, I took the crazy weather into account when I chose my items, so I can be ready for really different types of weather.  I am trying to start wearing more skirts and dresses so I included more than I would normally wear. My gingham shirt is relatively new and I love it so I hope you won't get tired of seeing it!  Woo hoo!  I'm excited to see what I come up with and even more excited to see what you all put together!

Last night we had a retirement party to go to for one of my co-workers.  It was a pretty casual dinner party out at a country lodge.  

Tomorrow is Monday already!  This weekend went by way too fast!

Welcome to our blog! (Officially!)  We are two sisters, CC and KS, with interests in clothes and shopping, crafts, cooking, and saving money!  Besides posting daily outfits, we want to write about the things we like most: eating, being crafty, and being thrifty enough to save money for shopping! 

More about CC: I am a late-20-something who is married to a great guy and has the best dog ever.  I have been following, enjoying, and studying fashion blogs for about a year now.  Recently I even started to plan outfits, which most often are inspired by bloggers out there much more fashionable and creative than me!  When Kendi announced her winter 30x30 remix I decided to take the plunge and try it, and luckily my sister wanted to start the blog with me, so here we are!  Stick around after the remix is over to see where we go from here.  Hints: cookies, dogs, and books!

More about KS: I am an early-20-something who is currently swamped completing my final semester of college for a degree in magazine journalism. This shirt is one  I am going to miss in the 30x30!  I might have to wear it again this weekend.  A new checkered shirt is taking its spot (I think) in my 30 items! 

I hope you guys like dogs.  This is mine, Bella.  She loves being in pictures with me, although she prefers her racquetball, stuffed squirrel, and treats to fashion.  I know this because she chews holes in any clothes I attempt to put on her, like a cute bandana or her football jersey.  I'm not a clothes on dogs person at all, but some items are irresistible!  It's a good thing her fluffy hair hides collars, or else I'd probably waste a lot of money on super cute collars for her!  You can expect to see her a lot in the future.  She sees me standing for a picture and comes running over without fail!

A Couple Confessions

Confession 1.  I think this is the first time I've ever worn boots with a pencil skirt.  After wearing it today, I think I like it.  I'm trying to branch out pre-remix time so that when I need to stretch my 30 items I will have a little practice!  So this outfit is like warming up for the 30x30.  As Tania said today, I am slowly picking out what to include in my 30 items (and trying to avoid them).

Confession 2.  I have bought a couple (ok more than a couple) of new items in the last couple weeks that I want to use for the remix.  I am afraid that sort of misses the point of the whole shopping from your closet and using what you have idea, but in my defense the items I bought were on my "need" list and I truly love them, and I think they'll be great for remixing!  (Funny how that "need" list never seems to get cleared out.)

I had originally planned this outfit for today after seeing Ashley wearing it a couple weeks ago!  I love the pink stripes but I think it starts to look too young if the pink isn't toned down by darker, more adult colors.  Then upon opening my google reader I saw today was Breton Stripe Day!  What a great coincidence!  I am not sure if pink stripes count as Breton, but you can go here to see lots more!  This website is such a brilliant idea, so many style ideas on one page, organized by style trend... I love it.   I also love Linley's outfit from Dwelling and Telling with the stripes folded over the end of the cardi sleeves.  I'll be keeping that in mind.

First Ever OOTD!

Today I decided to jump right in and start my OOTD posts with a really simple outfit.  I am heading out to a few stores and just needed something simple.  I always get hot in stores when I am running errands so even though it's chilly today I didn't want to dress too warm.  And I can always take my scarf off if I get too hot!
